Assessment of odontogenic changes in computed tomography of patients with chronic sinusitis

Introduction Chronic sinusitis can be caused by both laryngological and dental factors. The number of odontogenic (OS) in last decades is increasing seems to underrated. A unique developmental microbiological factors causing OS require a different therapeutic approach. Material methods This study evaluated tomography examinations 500 patients with clinical diagnosis chronic sinusitis. were referred laryngologists, neurologists, maxillofacial surgeons. scans reanalyzed view the presence pathologies Results Among patients, 19,6% showed no inflammatory changes mucosa paranasal sinuses. All patient groups had numerous teeth missing, ranging from 27.3% 33.2%. Most common periapical (28,8%) after improper endodontic treatment (24,2%). In group question implants (0,4%) maxillary sinus augmentation (2,8%) marginal etiological factor. Conclusions Computed allows thorough assessment changes. Obstruction osteomeatal complex does not have direct influence on development. 43,2 % OS.
